California Title 24, Part 6, Section 110.12 – SIMPLIFIED

The requirement: Demand-responsive lighting controls and controlled receptacles must be certified as capable of responding to a signal from a certified OpenADR 2.0b Virtual End Node (VEN). If your controls can’t talk to a VEN, they don’t meet the mandatory requirement.

What a VEN is: A Virtual End Node (VEN) is the certified piece of hardware that receives a demand response signal from the utility’s Virtual Top Node (VTN) and passes it on to the building’s lighting, HVAC, or pool equipment. eisy is a certified VEN.

Who it applies to: Nonresidential lighting loads of 4,000W or more, and buildings with automatic receptacle control, under new construction or qualifying alterations.

The fix: eisy already holds the OpenADR 2.0a/2.0b certification this section asks for, plus OpenADR 3.0. Install it, and this part of the requirement is met.

This is a general summary for planning purposes, not legal or code-compliance advice. Requirements vary by project type, scope of alteration, and jurisdiction. Confirm applicability with your energy consultant, Title 24 compliance documentation preparer, or local building department before final design.
