Big Things Are Coming to eisy

Here’s what’s inside in a nutshell:

OS Upgrade to 14.4

eisy is moving to OS 14.4, bringing your system up to the latest foundation release.

A Safer Way to Upgrade

We’ve redesigned the upgrade process from the ground up. Instead of upgrading in place, eisy now upgrades a clone of your system. Only after everything checks out does it switch you over to the new instance. That means you can freely switch back and forth between instances, or remove the one you no longer need. No more upgrade anxiety.

Support for Off-the-Shelf Zigbee/Z-Wave Dongles

You’re no longer tied to our Z-Matter USB dongles. Support has been added for off-the-shelf Zigbee and Z-Wave USB dongles (see supported devices). We’ve also fixed a few bugs, including Zigbee device removal causing a hang and Z-Wave hang issues some of you have run into.

Edit Your Programs in eisy-ui

If you’ve been using the Admin Console to manage your programs, you can retire it: the full power of program editing is now built into eisy-ui. It has the same familiar feel as the Admin Console, minus the extra hoops. Everything just flows.

Choose Your Update Channel

You can now pick which repo you want to track: staging, beta, or production, so you can choose between living on the bleeding edge or staying on stable, proven releases.

Smarter Backup/Restore

Backup and restore now includes system files, not just your configuration, for a more complete safety net.

eisy-ui: The Foundation for Retiring Java

This release also lays the groundwork for eisy-ui to fully replace Java, with a goal of finishing that transition by the end of the year, if not sooner.
